To help me with exposure and getting myself out there, I decided to make a Twitter all do with my development for Solum, and some other artworks, and to network with other devs within the gaming industry.

This is the current Bio for my account. The image next to it is my friend and alumni that I used to see how she presented herself online in this professional context. It was interesting to see how she resented herself and while I struggled to be able to maintain a presence during the hectic year I had, but I was able to learn a lot either way.

With Bubble Bunny, it started out with me not sure what to post. While I was working on things, I didn’t have a whole lot of progress to share. Thus, I would start by sharing a lot of things, such as what I was drinking that day, or games that I was looking forward to coming out.

While it was fun to have a more casual space to talk about potential game dev, I did find it hard. With being new to space online, I was nervous to be overbearing with things such as hashtags or posting too much on my account when I had yet to make any connections.

When it came to actually post about the work I was doing on Solum, it went rather well. I was able to get quite a few likes, even if I did end up popping onto the Twitter we made for promoting the game (but we hardly used this account and mostly stuck to our own dev accounts).

Using hashtags such as #IndieDev or #IndieGameDev did help to get a few more likes on my work, and that made me happy as it meant I was gradually being noticed by those in the creative space. I was also able to get a follow from a dev that is part of Aggro Crab- a publisher and games studio responsible for ‘Going Under’ and ‘Subway Midnight’.

While we haven’t interacted a whole lot on social media, it meant a lot to be able to be noticed by someone within the studio that I adore. They are really great and seeing Stom’s fun a laidback attitude helped me realize that maybe I could post about my Boba drinks and updates if and when I got around to having content I was happy to share with everyone online.

I do plan to continue to use this account as my main base of dev operation. While I plan to go on to do a MA, I think it will be amazing to still be able to develop connections in the field I want to be able to get into and work in someday.

Going to events like WASD and interacting more with posts will definitely get me there and I am excited to see where this goes.
